Located inside our eye is the lens. The lens helps to focus light into the back of our eyes, called the retina, which in turn helps us to see. A cataract is when clouding occurs over the lens of our eye. Although this condition can be seen in young people, most cases of cataracts develop as part of the normal ageing process.
If you are considering cataract surgery, contact Dr Holcombe to discuss options that will match your lifestyle.
After premium cataract surgery, our aim is that you’ll be free from cataracts and be able in the distance without spectacles, and only use your favourite spectacles for intermediate tasks.
Our patients are often amazed by the detail they weren’t able to see with cataracts. The colours are brighter and more vibrant, just like they remember from their childhood.
Many patients resume normal activities a day or two after cataract surgery with a greater sense of confidence and self-assuredness.
After the surgery, our patients often mention that they have a new lease of life. Seeing the world differently makes them feel rejuvenated and youthful.
If you have any questions about the surgery, or aftercare, please contact our day surgery.
Premium cataract surgery uses toric monofocal lenses. These lenses focus light from a single zone, designed to correct astigmatism, and aim to provide the sharpest possible vision from one focal zone – usually distance vision.
The main advantage Premium Cataract Surgery offers beyond standard cataract surgery is patients are much less likely to need to prescription glasses for long-distance vision.
Spectacles are usually only required for intermediate and near tasks, such as watching television, using the computer, and reading.
It is important to us that our patients understand what the surgery involves. If you have any questions, please contact our practice to learn more.
Premium cataract surgery is chosen by patients who may want the confidence of having sharp distance vision without glasses, but choose to wear glasses full time for the convenience of their intermediate and near vision requirements. It is also chosen by patients to do not engage in many near tasks and don’t mind putting on a pair of reading glasses or ‘computer’ glasses when they need to.
To find out whether this option is suitable for you, we recommend having a conversation with your optometrist, or our practice.
